老鷹「加州旅店」在唱啥？ 猜了35年【聯合報╱記者袁世珮／台北報導】
自1977年二月發行以來，老鷹合唱團（Eagles）的「加州旅店」（Hotel California）成就傳奇、傳唱全球，除了是吉他solo百首歌曲的第一名之外，其詞意也引起討論，這旅店，究竟是什麼店？

這張專輯是老鷹最成功的專輯，總銷量超過了1500萬張，同名歌曲反映70年代的情境。就表面看，詞意是說主角走進了一家旅店，看似歡樂的背後藏有許多詭異，而當他覺醒想離開，得到的回應卻是「You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.」（你隨時可以退房，但你永遠走不了）。老鷹主唱唐亨利昨天說：「這是描述從純真到世故的過程。」

滾石雜誌曾經報導，「Hotel California」唱片封面拍的正是比佛利山酒店（Beverly Hills Hotel），封底是另一家名為「Lido」的舊酒店大廳。但過去30多年來，各界對這「旅店」，有諸多揣測。

有人說，這旅店意喻毒品，毒海一入就沒得出路；有人說，這是實際存在的瘋人院，歌詞裡的瘋狂，是真實的現象；也有人相信，這歌詞是在描述於加州的旅館內嗑藥過量死亡的歌手Janis Joplin。

最讓人匪夷所思的，是反搖滾的人指控和魔鬼有關，指崇拜撒旦的人士在加州買了一間「加州旅店」作為撒旦教會，再加上老鷹的復出演唱會專輯名為「Hell Freezes Over」，給了反對者更多的聯想。甚至有人言之鑿鑿，指黑膠唱片內封套的旅店大廳照片，有個莫名的神秘面孔，增添各種想像
